Strategy List for the Aduyantes

If you read and enjoyed a Lara Rios book, please tell a friend of colleague.  Why?  "Word of Mouth" is the most important sales tool an author can have.  Your recommendation means more than anything else out there.

You might also take a moment to post an online review at places like Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com.   A line or two is sufficient.  Just putting your enthusiasm out there for others to read is another way of using "Word of Mouth."

Purchase Lara's books new and encourage others to do the same.  Why?  While I understand how purchasing books used saves you money, those sales do not count toward an author's sales count.  These counts are used to decide whether that author gets another contract or not.  If you want more Lara Rios' books, the numbers of new books sold do help.

If you plan to purchase Lara's book, please do so early in the month of its release.  Why?  Every sale helps, but if bookstores see a book selling rapidly early in the month of release, they'll be more likely to reorder.  More books on the shelf can mean more sales.  And the velocity of early sales also contributes to an author making the bestseller lists.

Visit a bookstore to verify that Lara's book is on the shelves.  Why? While big name authors receive lots of shelf and display space in a bookstore, lesser known authors often sit in the cartons unnoticed on the first day of release.  In fact, days or weeks can go by before those books reach the shelves.  In some cases, the books are returned without every being unpacked.  All I ask if that you take the time to verify that Lara's book is on the store's shelves.  If not, please ask a sales person to find it for you.  Most store personnel are glad to help a customer if you ask.  If the book is not in the back room, please ask the sales person to order it for the store.

Arrange Lara's books on the shelf to be face out.  Why?  Books that are shelved face out tend to sell more quickly than the ones where you can only see the spine.  This may involve rearranging some of the books, so don't do it if it makes you uncomfortable.
